Themes

Template families for all use cases following your brand identity flawlessly.

Themes in OptiMonk are cohesive template families — collections of pre-built campaign templates that share a consistent visual language across every campaign type and goal. Each Theme represents a distinct aesthetic direction: Essential, Photographic, Modern, Botanic, Midnight, Spark, Black, Inverse, Pure, Groundy, Edge, and Monochrome. Within any Theme family, there are templates for every campaign goal — email capture, cart abandonment, product recommendations, surveys, gamification, discount delivery, free shipping bars, and more — all styled to look like they were designed together. When you choose a Theme and have your Theme Kit brand settings configured (main color, fonts, logo, corner style), OptiMonk applies your brand identity automatically to any template you select from that family — so the template arrives pre-branded the moment you open it in the editor. This combination of themed template families and automatic brand application means you have a ready-to-customize, on-brand starting point for any campaign goal, rather than a generic layout that needs to be rebuilt from the ground up to look like your store.

Key benefits

  • A template for every campaign goal, within your chosen visual style. Rather than hunting across an undifferentiated template library for something that looks consistent with your last campaign, Themes organize templates by visual family — so you can stay within your chosen Theme and find an appropriate template for any new campaign goal you want to address. A cart abandonment popup, a newsletter sticky bar, a gamification wheel, and a product recommendation embedded block can all come from the same Theme family and look like they belong together.
  • On-brand from the moment you open the editor. When your Theme Kit settings are configured, every template you select from a compatible Theme family is pre-branded — your colors, your fonts, your logo, your corner style — before you make a single edit. The design starting point is already yours. This is fundamentally different from a blank template that happens to look good: it is a template that has already been styled for your brand and is ready for you to add your offer, copy, and campaign logic.
  • Create your own custom Theme for complete visual ownership. Beyond OptiMonk's 12 built-in Theme families, configuring your Theme Kit settings produces a custom Theme specific to your brand — a personalized template family that exists nowhere in OptiMonk's standard library. Every new campaign you create from your custom Theme arrives pre-branded and visually consistent with every other campaign you have built, forming a cohesive on-site campaign presence that feels like an intentional design system rather than a collection of one-off popups.

How it works

Step 1
Browse Theme families and select the one that fits your brand aesthetic

Visit OptiMonk's theme library at library.optimonk.com/templates/themes to browse the 12 available theme families. Each family shows preview templates across multiple campaign types. Select the Theme whose visual style — photography-forward, typographic, minimal, dark, botanical — most closely aligns with your brand's existing design language.

Step 2
Configure your Theme Kit settings to personalize the chosen Theme

With your preferred Theme family selected, open Theme Kit in the editor and enter your brand's main color, secondary colors, logo, font selections, and corner style. OptiMonk automatically applies these settings across all templates in the family — recalculating your main color into four harmonious shades and applying them throughout the template layouts consistently.

Step 3
Select a template from your Theme for any new campaign

When creating any new campaign, browse templates within your chosen Theme family filtered by campaign goal — email capture, cart abandonment, announcement, free shipping, and more. Select the appropriate template and OptiMonk applies your Theme Kit settings automatically via the Mini-Wizard. Open the editor and the campaign is already on-brand, with only the offer-specific content — headline, copy, image, CTA — remaining to be customized before publishing.

Frequently asked questions

What are Themes in OptiMonk?+

Themes are cohesive template families in OptiMonk, each with a distinct visual style and templates covering every campaign goal and format. OptiMonk provides 12 named Theme families — including Essential, Photographic, Modern, Botanic, Midnight, Spark, Black, Inverse, Pure, Groundy, Edge, and Monochrome. When combined with Theme Kit brand settings, templates from a chosen Theme family arrive pre-branded with your colors, fonts, logo, and corner style automatically applied.

What is the difference between a Theme and Theme Kit?+

A Theme is the template family itself — the collection of pre-built layouts organized by visual style, covering every campaign goal. Theme Kit is the brand configuration tool — where you define your main color, fonts, logo, and corner style. Theme Kit feeds into Themes: when you configure Theme Kit, your settings are applied automatically to any template you select from a compatible Theme family. The Theme provides the visual structure; Theme Kit applies your brand identity to it.

How many templates are available within each Theme family?+

Each Theme family includes templates across the full range of OptiMonk campaign goals and formats — popup campaigns for email capture, cart abandonment, discount delivery, product recommendations, and surveys; sticky bars for announcements and free shipping; gamification templates; fullscreens; and more. The exact number of templates per family varies, but every major campaign goal has a themed template available, so you can stay within one visual family across your entire campaign set.

Can I use templates from different Theme families in the same account?+

Yes. There is no restriction on using templates from multiple Theme families. However, the visual consistency benefit of Themes comes from staying within one family — or a closely related set — so that campaigns across different goals look like they belong to the same brand. Mixing templates from very different Theme families (such as Photographic and Edge simultaneously) may result in a less cohesive campaign set if visual consistency across all campaigns is a priority.

What happens if I change my Theme Kit settings — do my existing campaigns update?+

No. Changing Theme Kit settings does not retroactively update campaigns that were already created. Each campaign retains the Theme Kit settings that were active when it was built. If you want to update older campaigns to reflect new brand settings, you need to do so individually within each campaign's editor. This behavior is intentional — it protects live campaigns from unintended restyling whenever brand settings are refined.
